Active and Collaborative Learning

This course is focused on the practical application of student-centered learning strategies. Explore the principles, value and design of active and collaborative learning. Find out how and why students benefit from interactive learning, regardless of the targeted learning outcomes. Improve your ability to craft questions that challenge students to think critically and apply knowledge.

Learning Outcomes

  • Explain how and why students benefit from interactive learning.

  • Differentiate between active and collaborative learning principles.

  • Select and explain why at least three active and collaborative learning activities fit the learning outcomes of your course.

  • Design an active or collaborative learning activity, taking into account factors such as class size, room layout, and principles of effective group dynamics.

  • Apply productive methods to facilitate student interaction in small groups.
