Classroom Management

Even in a well-planned course, conflicts and distractions are bound to occur. In this course, learn techniques for effectively managing the classroom to best support classroom learning. Considerations include standards of conduct, managing student expectations, conflict resolution, academic integrity, safety and emergency management, and student privacy.

Learning Outcomes

  • Locate and review campus policies related to student code of conduct, academic integrity, and student privacy (FERPA).

  • Establish classroom standards and manage student expectations related to attendance, participation, inclusion, respect, freedom from harassment, and interaction.

  • Implement strategies for preventing and diffusing classroom conflict.

  • Discuss strategies for promoting academic integrity, preventing plagiarism and cheating, and handling instances of academic dishonesty.

  • Identify strategies for ensuring classroom safety and adherence to emergency management procedures at your institution.
