Conflict Management for Supervisors

Conflict is a normal occurrence and is present wherever humans interact.  In this highly interactive course, identify types and causes of conflict and various common responses to conflict. Supervisors have a critical role to play in dealing with conflict within their workplaces.  Participants will have the opportunity to practice positive methods for conflict resolution and empowering staff members to resolve conflicts effectively, as well as facilitating resolution when the parties are not able to accomplish it on their own. 

Learning Outcomes

  • Recognize conflict as a natural and normal occurrence

  • Identify causes of conflict in the workplace

  • Discuss examples of conflict in the workplace.

  • Describe the types of response to conflict

  • Recognize the importance of communication in resolving conflict

  • Understand the supervisor’s role in dealing with conflict

  • Facilitate conflict resolution between parties.
