The Scholarship of Teaching

Engagement in the scholarship of teaching (as outlined by Boyer*) can provide a constant source of inspiration and vitality for teachers. Develop your skill at identifying and locating the best resources to support your teaching and student learning. Methods for keeping current in your field and using research to inform your teaching practices will be addressed.

  • Explain the benefits of engaging in the scholarship of teaching.

  • Identify credible and innovative sources of research and development related to teaching and learning within your individual discipline.

  • Apply effective literature search strategies to locating timely, relevant and useful research and resources that support your teaching.

  • Outline three specific opportunities for your professional development.
