Student Assessment

Measuring student learning in today's classroom can be handled in a myriad of effective ways. This course will introduce a variety of assessment methods, how and when they are best used, how to develop assessment tools to measure learning outcomes, and how to use the results to improve teaching and understand student learning. Special emphasis will be placed on educative assessment methods and tools, such as objective tests, rubrics, Classroom Assessment Techniques (aka Angelo and Cross*), and authentic assessments.

Learning Outcomes

  • Construct an authentic and realistic assessment plan tied to learning outcomes.

  • Design and develop the following assessment tools: test specification blueprint, test, performance rubric, and Classroom Assessment Technique.

  • Identify key issues in administering assessments and analyzing assessment data.

  • Utilize assessment results to imrpvoe teaching and enhance learning.
